Where to go for incredible ice cream
You’re on holiday – it’s ice cream for breakfast, lunch and dinner, right? Oh yes and you’re in luck because there are loads of great places to grab an ice cream near our campsite. Here’s the inside scoop on where to go.
Tall Ships Creamery, Charlestown
These guys seriously know their stuff when it comes to creamy goodness. They’re masters at churning the best of ingredients into the most delicious chilled flavours and with a home on Charlestown harbour (Poldark fans take note) have named their awesome flavours in honour of the area’s piracy and seafaring past. Try the award-winning Lemon Heave Ho or Rollocking Rhuburb Crumble & Cornish Clotted Cream, or keep it simple with Cornish Vanilla Gold. Whatever you chose, a mouthful of pure bliss is guaranteed.
She Sells, Mevagissey
Oh how we heart She Sells in Mevagissey, specialists in traditional french crepes, indulgent sundaes and a huge selection of ice creams. Find it right on the harbour front and expect to be wowed by the incredible choice complete with sprinkles, flakes, wafers and lashings of delicious sauce. Go with an empty stomach and forget the diet!
Callestick Ice Cream at the Lost Gardens of Heligan
There are a million and one reasons why love being neighbours with the Lost Gardens of Heligan and their amazing ice cream is one of them. They’re one of many stockists of Callestick Ice Cream which is lovingly created from a herd of Friesian cows over on a farm near Truro but Heligan being Heligan have also added their own unique spin. They’ve teamed up with Callestick to create an exclusive frozen yoghurt which captures the spirit of the garden. It’s rippled with honey and is generously sprinkled with walnuts. It gets a big thumbs up from us!
Enjoy a cone of Callestick’s finest while exploring the garden or if you just fancy a quick stop, the cafe and ice-cream shop are completely free to enter.
Harbourside Ice Cream, Mevagissey
The queue that can normally be found snaking out of the Harbourside Ice Cream Parlour in Mevagissey is testament to the melt-in-your-mouth brilliance of Kelly’s Ice Cream. The Parlour dedicates its scoops to Kelly’s Cornish goodliness and serves up all the traditional flavours, as well as inspired flavour combinations such as blackcurrant cheesecake and cherry pie and custard. Race you to the queue!
Roskilly’s, Mevagissey
Cementing Mevagissey’s position as ice cream kingpin is Roskilly’s Parlour which presents the makings of Roskilly’s Organic Farm on The Lizard. As Cornish as ice cream comes, Roskilly’s offers up over 30 mouth-watering flavours with everything from salted caramel and mocha to ginger fairing and banoffee.
