Green and gorgeous Easter days out
By Pentewan Sands on the March 13th, 2019 in Camping, Holidays, Family, Cornwall, Events, Activities
It’s so close we can almost feel it. The blossoming blooms, the warmer days, the flourishes of new life…oh spring, how we’ve been waiting for you! It’s time to peel off the winter layers, feel the freedom of the great outdoors and, ahem, eat chocolate (well, it is Easter after all!). We’ve rounded-up the best nature-inspired Easter things to do right here on our beautiful doorstep…
Spring SUP
If you’re not quite ready for a full-on dip in the sea but fancy some fun on the water, stand up paddleboarding – or SUP for short - is just the ticket. This seriously cool and utterly addictive activity is super easy to master and can be done without even getting wet (ok, maybe just a little bit!). Rally up the family and join Cornwall Watersports on Pentewan beach for an adrenaline-filled session. They’ll help you get your balance and perfect your strokes before leading you on a leisurely glide along the stunning coastline where you’ll be able to take in the views and discover an abundance of marine wildlife. An activity to make your Mum and Dad cool-points sky-rocket!
Egg-cellent Eden
You can always count on the fantastic Eden Project to be doing something whacky and fun with a mighty big side helping of wonder and inspiration…and this Easter is no exception. From 6th to 25th April there’s farm-themed activities galore, a Golden Egg Hunt with a difference and a giant scramble course where family members can go head-to-head. Little (and not-so-little) kids can also find out what makes crops grow by helping the Eden farmers, and when you’re done checking out the Easter activity treats, the Eden Project’s famous biomes will provide another truck-load of ‘wow’ moments. ‘Egg-cellent’ doesn’t even come close!
Top tip: bag yourself discounted entry into this must-visit eco attraction by arriving via public transport. A connecting First Kernow bus service to the Eden Project stops right outside our entrance!
Cuteness overload at Heligan
Is it really Easter if you don’t meet a new-born lamb? Absolutely not so get yourself over to the magical Lost Gardens of Heligan from 6th – 22nd April to meet a barn full and, if you’re lucky, even see one being born. There’s also newly hatched chicks and ducklings, piglets aplenty and a whole array of other small and fluffy characters. And on top of all the cuteness you’ll find a ‘grow your own’ trail, Easter crafts and family fun games. Try your hand at Highland Cow Hoopla and challenge friends to the Heligan Hobby Horse Derby.
Zog in the woods
If you go to Cardinham Woods near Bodmin this Easter you’re sure to find a surprise…a Zog shaped surprise in fact! Follow trail markers through the woods to discover characters from Zog, the latest Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler book to be brought to life on Cardinham’s forest trails. Help children collect stars, complete challenges and interact with the forest as you head on a journey with Zog and all the characters from the story. Pick up a trail activity pack from the café for added adventure!
Easter Egg Hunt
Chocolate, chocolate, chocolate! We couldn’t forget the creamy, delicious, sweet stuff. Chocolate is EVERYWHERE this Easter but when it comes to Easter Egg Hunts the legendary National Trust has got to be the front-runner. It has teamed up with the chocolate Gods at Cadbury so hop along to nearby Lanhydrock House and Estate from 6th – 20th April to spot the nature clues and claim your yummy treat.
