Hip, hip, hooray, February half-term is just days away. Time for quality time with the family and fun exploring Cornwall. Here’s what our local attractions are up to…
Party time at The Seahorse
Join us for Sandy the Seahorse’s Birthday Party on Saturday 15th February. Ideal for little ones, there will be party games, dances, and a special meet and greet with the star of the show, Sandy The Seahorse. And that’s just for starters. We’ve also got a series of other events throughout February half-term week, including Disney Club, Wild West Day, Movie Club, Arts & Crafts, Bubble Art, Superhero Club, Sheepherding Competition and Wacky Science with the Professor. We can’t wait!
Uncover colour at the Eden Project
Visit the world famous Eden Project during February half term to explore the incredible world of colour, with craft workshops, a colour trail around the biomes, and the chance to get hands on with the creation of a giant collaborative art installation. While you’re there you can also enjoy lots of outdoor attractions including gardens and a mini beast play tower and don’t miss a twirl around the ice rink before it melts on Sunday 23rd February.
Hands on science at the National Maritime Museum Cornwall
This half term at the NMMC promises “magical fog, exploding water and curious chemistry” as part of the popular attraction’s utterly fascinating live, expert-led Science of the Sea show with a wonderfully interactive twist. Plus, there’s Make and Take workshops and Bubble Trail, not to mention all the usual sea, boats and maritime hands-on fun.
Dig deep at Wheal Martyn
Explore the brilliant Wheal Martyn and engage the kids with everything from ‘paint a bug house’ to Cornish china clay pottery painting this half term. There’s also a Teddy Bear Hunt, Badger Forest School, Children’s Challenge Trail, make-and-take activities and a whole lot more besides. Kids will also love digging deep into the fascinating history of china clay mining to discover how it shapes our world today!
Love nature at the Lost Gardens of Heligan
The beautiful Lost Gardens of Heligan is celebrating all things nature this half-term. Wander along sensory trails amongst the woodland or gardens, spotting wild creatures taking shelter from the winter breeze, and record bird sightings in The Hide. And if little ones are feeling inspired by the thriving wildlife at Heligan, they’ll love the clay crafts with Heligan foliage and the chance to roll up their sleeves to create bird treats and seed bombs to take home and enjoy in the garden.
Soldiering fun at Bodmin Keep
Bodmin Keep is opening its doors for free this half-term with a special week full of fantastic activities, crafts and soldiering fun. As well as historic weapons to learn about and handle, there will be intriguing curator’s curiosities, World War II reenactors, drill displays and masses more.
Have a farmtastic time at Dairyland Farm World
If you go down to the farm today, you’re sure of a big surprise…visit the fantastic Dairyland Farm World with your teddy this half-term and join the Teddy’s Bears’ Picnic. There will be tractor rides in the woods, pat-a-pet, bottle feeding, crafts and pony rides and a meet-and-greet with lots of exciting creepy crawlers and other critters in the brand new Bug Zone. What farmtastic fun!
Go back in time at Pendennis Castle
Get set for a truly historic half term at Pendennis Castle as you discover what it was like to live, work and fight in a real-life castle. Whether it’s learning to sword fight, taking part in Monkopoly - the English Heritage version of giant Monopoly - or listening to storytelling, there’s plenty of hands-on fun to keep the kids entertained. And once the little adventurers have put their skills to the test, let imaginations run wild as you explore Pendennis’ mighty castle keep.
Have an amazing week!
